Proposed Jan. 26, 2017

As more and more car companies are starting to segway into autonomous/self-driving vehicles, the need for some type of indicator becomes important. Other drivers on the road should know if the car beside them is functioning with or without a driver - in order to make informed decisions while driving. That's why I propose that when a vehicle goes into self-driving, traffic-assist, or even parking assist mode - a light indicator should turn on. The light should be placed above or near the front headlights and rear brake lights. This indicator light should also be a color that differentiates itself from any other lights that may be found, such as Blue or Green.

Let's come together and make this a law and an example for all car makers to follow as we begin the merging of drivers and self-drivers on our roads to keep them safe and keep us aware. Thank you.

I support that. Who wants to honk at a car driving itself?

I support this and would propose that this also be ammended to include a requirement that these lights stay on if airbags are deployed or if a collision is detected. This will aid with fact gathering at the scene and also help first responders.

The light cannot be blue. That light is reserved already for law enforcement.
