I believe there needs to be some police force in place but that there needs also be funding to handle situations that do not require the police but for which they are engaged now, such as mental health issues. Definitely need to de-militarize the police and engage at the community level to regain trust within communities that have been mistreated and abused in the past.

Who would the average citizen call for a robbery, assault in progress, vandalism, battery, stolen car, violent attack or other crime related instance where we rely on the KCPD today?

I am not for abolishing the police force. However I do think the police are called too often for things which should be handled other ways. So I am all in for considering if instead of always increasing the size of the police force or building more prisons if public funds might be more wisely invested in community centers, drug rehab programs, and mental health facilities.

Without a police force there would be a dramatic increase in crime rates.
